Amazing Fido "online telepathy" puzzle

Someone sent me a link to an "online telepathy" puzzle, I find it very interesting. Give it a try yourself to see if you agree and then try to figure out how it was done.

First, click on the link below. It should open up a new window to the puzzle website. Click on the boy in the lower right corner of the picture to start the puzzle. Simply follow the instruction on screen.

When you have reach the final window, type in your answer in the white box using the keyboard and then watch what happen to the paper in the boy's hand. You will be amazed.

The Answer ...

After you have decided on the 3 or 4 digits, jumble them up, the answer you get, be it 3 digits or 4 digits answer, will always adds up to 18.

Example, if after the subtraction, you get 3672 ... 3+6+7+2 = 18.

Let take a couple of random examples:

Example 1.
You chose 5476 .... jumble it up to become 6457
Bigger number subtract smaller number .... 6457 - 5476
That will give you 981
9+8+1 = 18

Example 2.
You chose 9876 .... jumble it up to become 8967
Bigger number subtract smaller number .... 9876 - 8967
That will give you 909
9+0+9 = 18

Now, with the remaining 3 digits that you type into the box after you have circled one of them, all we have to do is use 18 to subtract them one by one.

In the case of the first example 3672, if you had choosen 7, then 18-3-6-2 will give you the answer 7, which is the one you had circled.

Important: The initial instruction to chose the 3 or 4 digits have to be a set of random numbers all different from each other.

From a strictly mathematical viewpoint:
What Equals 100%? What does it mean to give MORE than 100%? Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We have all been in situations where someone wants you to give over 100%. How about achieving 101%? What equals 100% in life?


Here's a little mathematical formula that might help you answer these questions:

Then:
H-A-R-D-W-O-R-K = 8+1+18+4+23+15+18+11 = 98%
and
K-N-O-W-L-E-D-G-E = 11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5 = 96%
But,
A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E = 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100%


AND, look how far the love of God will take you ?
L - O- V- E-O-F-G-O-D
12+15+22+5+15+6+7+15+4 = 101%


Therefore, one can conclude with mathematical certainty that:


While Hard work and Knowledge will get you close, and Attitude will get you there, it's the Love of God that will put you over the top !

It Is Not What You Say, But How You Say It ...


A king once dreamed that all his teeth had fallen out. He was naturally concerned about his dream, so the next morning he sent for a soothsayer to interpret his dream for him.

The soothsayer listened to the king's dream, pondered over it for a moment, and then delivered this pronouncement: "Your Highness, the dream means that all your relatives will die and you will be left alone."

The king was furious at the soothsayer's interpretation, and he demanded the soothsayer be exiled.

Then the king called for a second soothsayer. This soothsayer listened to the king's dream, pondered for a moment, and then proclaimed: "Rejoice, O King! The dream means that you will live many more years. In fact, you will outlive all your relatives! LONG LIVE THE KING!"

This interpretation so pleased the king that he gave the interpreter a large purse of gold.

Essentially, the two soothsayers made the same prediction. But there was a big difference in HOW they delivered the message. As a result, there was a big difference in how the message was received.

The moral of the story is very clear: It's not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it that counts!
